Hello and Welcome! Today, I want to share something close to my heart—how Carnatic music can bring joy, mental peace, and a sense of togetherness. Whether you’re new to Carnatic music, have grown up listening to it, or are looking to find balance and calm through music, there’s so much beauty waiting to be explored.

Why Carnatic Music?

Carnatic music is more than just a series of melodies; it’s a journey into a world of rich emotions and expressive storytelling that transcends language and culture. Through its intricate ragas and talas (melodies and rhythms), we can experience various emotions, from peace and joy to reflection and inspiration. This art form has been a source of strength, calm, and creativity for me. My goal is to share this experience with all of you who are looking for something meaningful and healing through music.

Starting Your Journey as a Beginner

If you’re just beginning your Carnatic music journey, know that you’re in for an exciting and fulfilling experience! Learning even a simple raga can help center your mind, connect you with a deep cultural tradition, and provide a creative outlet. My beginner-friendly tutorials are designed to guide you step-by-step, no matter your musical background. Together, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, building confidence and joy with every lesson.

What You’ll Experience in Dileena’s Classes

In my classes, you’ll learn classical techniques while also having the space to explore your unique voice and style. Many of us seek peace and mental clarity through music, and Carnatic music is a beautiful way to achieve that. Each lesson is designed to be supportive, empowering, and fun, helping you embrace music as a tool for self-expression and mindfulness.

The Magic of Mohana and Kalyani Ragas

Two ragas that are powerful in calming the mind and uplifting the spirit are Mohana and Kalyani. Mohana, with its joyful and serene notes, evokes a sense of lightness and positivity. Kalyani, known for its emotional depth, inspires both peace and reflection. These ragas are beginner-friendly and perfect for easing into Carnatic music while experiencing its calming effects. Singing these ragas not only enhances your musical skills but also helps reduce stress and anxiety and fosters mental well-being.

Watch My Video Tutorial

If you’re ready to get started, I’ve created a quick video in under 2 minutes where I walk you through the ragas- Mohana & Kalyani. We’ll sing together and practice both the Arohana and Avarohana (ascending and descending) scales. These are simple yet soothing steps on your musical journey.
